A-level coursework/EPQ

Writing coursework and individual research projects can be a very challenging task for students. Particularly for Edexcel History A-Level, students are required to understand complex debates within a field of study with little or no context. While individual teachers are best placed to advise on what they want students to look at more specifically, I have found that many students benefit from a broader understanding of the subject they are studying.

Research structure and feedback

I start by getting clients to complete a short questionnaire which tries to understand how they have decided on a topic and what steps they have taken to research it. This is then used to construct a rough outline structure and timeline for completion. Subsequent sessions are spent reviewing progress, problem-solving, and providing feedback on completed sections.

Research Assistance

While clients have to do their own research, this can be daunting. I can prepare briefings which allow them to make sense of what they are looking at and formulate research questions. I can also accompany them on visits to archives to help collect material and then help them decide how this can be incorporated into their writing.
